Pink Floyd founder member Rick Wright has died from cancer.
I am sure it won't interest everybody but I am very sad today.
Rick Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd has died aged 65. In my view, and maybe only mine, Pink Floyd are the greatest band of the last 40 years. Forget Dark Side Of The Moon, an album that spent a decade in the album charts, Wish You Were Here (my favourite Floyd album), The Wall, and early singles See Emily Play and Arnold Lane, were all totally ground breaking. Not to mention Ummagumma, Meddle, Animals, Saucer Full Of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother and the rest.
Thank god that Roger Waters joined Nick Mason, David Gilmour and Rick Wright for that wonderful final, now farewell, concert at Live 8 in 2005.
Rick Wright R.I.P.

Have to admit am a bit of a Pink Floyd fan so sorry to hear the news. A track I really like but not sure whether was a Pink Floyd track or a Syd Barrett solo was "The Effervescent Elephant". Reminds me of when at Uni and a mate constantly singing it along with hand gestures!
Pink Floyd were something special.

Saw them live twice in the early seventies and can still remember the effect they had on me, utterly fantastic musically and visually.
I walked up to the top of Montana Roja a few weeks ago with Summer '68, written by Rick, playing on my mp3 player and thought then that he was somewhat overshadowed by the others. He was the quiet one of the band and that's saying something in Pink Floyd.
RIP

Pink Floyd, one of the great bands for sure. I jumped on-board the Floyd train starting from their first album . . . to their last. It´s disconcerting to watch all the music, literary and film artists you grew up with . . . die. But it is all inevitable, the passing of a generation.
