Just got a little confused while watching Sky News wondering why a member of the TUC, with a strong northern accent, was talking about a furnace! Were the workers cold or something? Then realised it was his accent and he was actually talking about "fairness" for workers! Oh well, that what comes from not really paying attention!

I'm not sure I understand the point of your post. Unless it was to ridicule someone's accent.

My point was only that when you don't fully pay attention to something you can easily misunderstand what is going on as I did and start coming coming to silly conclusions about a news story or any else for that matter.

We were sitting watching Big Brother's Little Brother (I know, sad) and it was an interview with Kathreya. My 5 year old who was pottring about, not really watching said. "Oh Mummy, she sounds different. Is she Chinese"? I said "No, sweetie, she's from Thailand". "Oh", she said, as she studied the TV. As she lost interest and wandered off, she said with some satisfaction "That's where Noddy's from"
