Question Has anyone on the Tenerife Forum had laser eye surgery?

Has anyone on here had laser eye surgery? Does it hurt? How much does it cost? Where did you get it done?

I don't ask much, do I???

Thumbs up Laser eye surgery

My Daughter had this done years ago and I know a few other people who have had it done. They are very pleased with the results. I do believe it is not painful. I am not sure of the cost because they offer you a variety of treatments, it may also depend on whether you have "astigmatism" or on your "prescription".

When my Daughter had hers done, she said she wanted to go on the "roof top" and shout to everybody how marvellous it was.

Friend of mine has had it done in England in Leeds, she raves about it.
She had one eye cured completely then the other eye not quite cured as they said she would be able to read with this eye.
She said it took her brain a while to figure this out but now she is used to it she says its the best thing she ever did!

I had my eyes corrected a few years ago by Ultralase. I now have better than 20/20 vision.

I always tell people to read ALL available sources of information and then decide for yourself (if you are even suitable that is). There are a few different procedures. As with any procedure, there are risks.

The laser procedure on the day lasted a short time.

Costs for correction start from about £395 for each eye - some (such as London eye hospitals) were charging over 2.5k for both eyes. I think and in-between amount is about right. Why risk you eyes with a company that is cutting costs (and that will charge extra for post correction check ups etc).

Do remember that you may need glasses at a later date due to natural aging of the eye. A newly documented phenomena is when the corrected eye simply returns to its pre-corrected shape.

I had my eyes done about 4 years ago at Boots in London (before they sold their optician business off to someone else (vision express I think?)). It cost me £1000 per eye but was money well spent as now have 20/20 vision and no need to worry about contacts or glasses.

Even though it was not meant to hurt mine did hurt for a couple of hours after but by that evening the pain had gone and I could see clearly. It took a while not to wake up in the morning and automatically reach for my glasses or to go to push non-existant glasses up my nose!

A word of caution: After the operation they tape these plastic clear lenses on to your face so you don't knock your eyes, they're not the most attractive of things to look at so warn your partner when they come to meet you so you don't get what I did and have someone laughing so loudly at what you look like the whole of the opticians can hear!

I had my eyes done last year at Optimax in Aberdeen. It cost £1200 for both eyes. It wasn't a complete sucess but I went back and he just had to laser it for another 8 seconds to get 20/20 vision.
It's brilliant but my reading got much worse. I would rather only have to wear reading glasses than both.
If you go on their web site there is a forum which people write in to.
I definately recommend it.

I would consider it

I just started wearing reading glasses last year, but already I am becoming more and more dependant on them. If my eyesight got much worse, I would certainly consider laser surgery although I could never put anything in my eyes, like contacts, and I go mad if I get an eyelash in my eye. Pity help the poor person who gets me in the chair!
