Question Do you think your weight should be included in baggage allowance?

I read an article somewhere that an airline company have reduced its onflight magazine to reduce weight?!?

Apparently, by halving the weight of the magazine they will save 685 tonnes of fuel per plane per year!!! Roughly, a half million pound fuel saving each year!!!

The suggestion was then made that perhaps flight passengers weight should be included in their baggage allowance. Do you agree or think that it would be discrimination?

weight limit

I am certainly no lightweight and would think it was fairer if they included the passengers weight as well their luggage.I wouldnt have a clue how they would do it though as it could cause embarrassment. It seams strange that weight costs money in luggage and you could be charged extra for being a kilo over the luggage weight yet 40 kilos lighter in bodyweight than the next passenger. I'm not saying I am right about this and wouldn'y have a clue how it could be done. Like I say , I am and overweight but I do wear it well.

Yes, I think you should buy passage on a plane on a weight basis. I.e. you buy 150kg whatever isn´t taken up by lard is then your luggage allowance. If you need more weight then you pay more.

Not unless they increase the allowance considerably as some of us who are overweight would be left with hardly anything for our luggage!

I think it is a disgrace that we have to pay for suitcases now too!

It makes me wonder what they will be charging for next!?

What about tall people? Maybe there should be a scaled allowance based on your BMI?
