it would be discrimination !!! what after that ? but cant see it happening ! the flight companies are fighting to get bums on seats ! then what next an age tax? colour of your HAIR, SKIN , SHOES. BUT I READ THE LINK AND NEVER SEEN THIS SUGGESTION !!? did i miss it?

These don't cost anything to transport. Your weight does. I think it would be fair if the passenger and their luggage were weighed together and charged accordingly as that's what uses the fuel.
By the way I'm not being biased in this, skinny I am definately not.
I personally have had this bugbear for a couple of years. I am the right weight for my height and find it ridiculous that if my bag is 1kg over the allowance I could get charged yet there could be a person sat next to me 4stone heavier at the same height that can have the same luggage allowance.
A couple of years ago I had a trip back from Egypt where although a very lovely lady was sat next to me she needed a quarter of my seat for the 6 hour flight back to Heathrow.
I think as you walk up to check-in your total baggage and personal weight should be weighed together and unless there is a medical reason why someone is obese they should be charged excess baggage if over a set limit.

On a flight home recently i was sat next to a rather large bloke, he thought he was going to take half my seat as well, but there was no way i was allowing that, i mean why should i have had to be uncomfortable just because he was overweight, he was huffing and puffing and clearly quite p***** off because i wouldn't let him have half my seat as well...TOUGH!!!
Er....so do we strip off then, in front of check-in, because our clothes are all different weights ?
or
should we all wear exactly the same clothing, army, monastery or prison-style to be weighed?
and
what if one person is taller than another !....will each item of clothing be the same weight then or do some of us suffer even greater embarrassment?
RIDICULOUS. 100% NO!!!!

I can't believe this thread, an airline is doing away with the inflight magazine because its crap & no one reads it! 20kg is enough for everybody's clothes, a size 24 t-shirt only weighs a few grams more than a size 8 t-shirt so the baggage limits are fair.
No one has mentioned introducing scaled charges in accordance with your body weight & if they did they would be deemed unfair because 2 seperate people with the exact same BMI can easily be 3 stone different in weight so the larger person would be discriminated against.
I'm sorry but a drunk determined to argue that black was white wouldn't even bother with this debate
Weight should definitely be how the price of your seat is determined.
Somebody mentioned the weight of your clothes? What a silly post! You'd want to have some amount of clothing on to make a noticeable difference on a scale.
How can a person be expected to pay for an extra kilo of luggage, when the person after them weighs twenty kilos more? THAT's insane.
I'm far from light, and this would not be an incentive for me to lose any weight, BUT it's MY choice to fly. Who really NEEDS to fly, as opposed to wanting to fly? Not very many people.
Simple to do as well, really. Instead of the luggage belt being the scales, the area of floor in front of the desk should be a scale. That way, you, your baggage, and your heavy shoes are all weighed as one.
The display could be quite small and discreet, as it alreay is anyhow.
There would need to be regulations put in place first to clearly define the pricing scale, to prevent the airlines ripping people off.
initially, there would be delays, as idiots who book their flights give the wrong weight when booking their flights, but people would get used to it after a while.
The way forward, methinks...
Dave.
