I like true stories and on holiday I read a book called "Daddy's little earner" by Maria Landon. It tells the story of this young girls abusive childhood at the hands of her father, who on the day of her birth vowed to make her "the best little prostitute on the block". It was a good book but stomach wrenching at times, worth a read though. How sad that people can do these things to their own flesh and blood, pure evil.

Just finshed 2 cracking reads.

Dan Brown's "Deception Point" is an absolutely fabulous thriller, a real page turner.

John Grisham's "Playing for Pizza" is a great little light hearted read. Not a legal drmam like the rest of his stuff, but perfect for a non taxing holiday book.

Reading ¨the first casualty¨by Ben Elton , fictional whodunnit set in the 1st world war, I don´t like Ben Elton on t.v. but his writing is very good. Try chart throb by the same author, a great mickey take on x factor.

Also reading ¨Georges marvellous medicine¨ Roald Dahl

I have just finished Stalingrad by Antony Beevor. Superb book about the German attack on the city and how the Russians repelled and defeated them.

There are three books I have read this year which IMO are just sensational.

The Boy In The Grey Pyjamas by John Boyne - Brilliant portrayal of childhood in Auschwitz.

Story Of My Life - by Jay McInerney - Hilarious account of life in New York. It also part of a series which features Brightness Falls (Stunning!), Bright Lights Big City, and, The Good Life. Jay McInerney is a wonderful writer and there is a whole raft of his books around. His great buddy, but also major competitor for the title of Best Young Writer in America, is Bret Easton Ellis. I can highly recommend Less Than Zero by him but after that it's a bit difficult. American Psycho is probably his most famous, but highly controversial, novel. His books are very complicated and a little strange, to say the least, but IMO worth the read.

The third book I recommend is More Salsa Than Ketchup: Confessions Of A Tenerife Barman by Joe Cawley. Absolutely hilarious, incredibly informative and a damn good read!!!!!!!

I am currently reading Waiting For The Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee. Stunning!

Hope this helps

My mum's left us with 2 of Stuart Marconie's books, that the Bloke has made his way though, but I've not had a sniff yet. Apparently they're really funny though
