You know, we all have our problems, big or small, but when you read something like this I just thank God ( and I am not the best believer) that my children are happy, healthy and part of my life.
Your daughter is clearly an angel, you must be very proud of her
I am so so proud, just not sure where she gets her strength from.
We all have problems from time to time when there seems no way out, but just to puts things into perspective....
My daughter is a childrens nurse working out in the community, for the last month she has been on call 24/7 (her own decision, she is one angel) one of her patients a child under ten has been in the last stages of life in incredible pain which unbelievable amounts of drugs didn't seem to control - god bless him he passed away this evening gasping for breath, obviously his parents are distraught and in the confusion his dad had to be convinced not to visit the grave which has been half dug ready for the last 3 weeks, he said he needed to make sure it was all ready for him so that he can tuck his son in once last time.
OK now wipe away the tears and thank god for the health of our loved ones and say a prayer for this family, who quite frankly I don't now how the hell they will ever get over this.
Your daughter is a true heroine.
I could not do that job.

I said I couldn't either but as she said - if you knew of a child and its family in this situation and you could help in any way would you do it then? Yes of course we all would.
Although to be honest it's hard enough trying to keep some sort of composure when she comes home and pours out her heart.
It really does make you realise that a lot of our problems in comparison are trivial however bad they may seem at the time.
Mike you have hit the nail on the head, this is a bad year and a trying time, in the last two months i have been made redundant from a job with an indefinado, the only thing that was keeping us going financially as a family was the fact my wife had a good job, in fact she had a very good job with a contract and social security etc in Los Cristianos but gave it up to work closer to home with a job with lots of promises (false ones at that) She worked there for a month and everything was wonderful then the *******s finished her by text message for no reason on pay day after about a month of working there (yes you know who you are as you read this forum) Since found out that the said people have finished many a person by text message as the big fat hairy owner has no balls and doesn't or can't do it to people faces. So Mr and Mrs you know who you are in Los Gigantes (or should that be changed to Iceland Los Gigantes Divison due to the fact that everything you sell is frozen food reheated and nothing fresh) thank you very much and boy do i hope you have a crap time trading in what's left of summer and then the winter.

Not all doom and gloom, we are still on for moving mid-November!
Offers in on all our properties now, and we are over on the 21st September to sort school/house/business.
Anyone wants to meet up that week, beers are on us!
I think it's fairly well accepted that the credit crunch is not going to get any worse, banks are lowering interest rates and becoming more relaxed in the lending criteria.
The UK housing market has bottomed out and given that it has supported the UK economy (and I guess the economy of a lot of businesses in Tenerife indirectly) hopefully we should start to pull out of the downward slide soon.
I've been through many rough times in my life, and to be honest it has only made me stronger. With people who love and support you close, you can get through anything.

It is very sad that we all seem to have problems one way or another, but I also think the tight nit of this forum is like a family. We can all get through it together
we all have our ups and downs, and problems in life, some more than others.
some are more programmed to work through their problems and others not.
this doesn`t include things that are beyond your control, like a lot of things mentioned in this thread.....
but life goes on, and we solider on.........
i mean.... i gotta try and get in a floral dress and stilettos for the girls night out.... hows that for blooming, sad, tragic & unfortunate

You know when some people are struggling with personal trauma they are unable to reach out, even close friends don't see the hidden pain they are in.
So well meaning people when they say it makes one a stronger person through difficult journeys. Need to just take a moment out and really remember how difficult things can be when in the depth of despair...everyone has their own depth of pain and no-one else can feel it. We all need to honour that.
Over the years I have seen some wonderful posts on this forum, just doing that...honoring someones else's pain...just being here for them and hearing it. not trying to move them on into a false sense of being.
Pain has to shift in it's own time not ours.
Written with unconditional care. Trisha
Going through my own personal and private pain...
