I have bad sleeping times. I fall asleep easily then wake up about 10mins later feeling like I have slept for hours. I take 1 Piriton 4mg antihistamine tablet before going to bed and I manage to get a nice sleep without feeling tired in the morning. Nytol contains a sedating antihistamine.

Not sleeping is a sign of an over active and worried mind... One of the best cures are to send your mind to another place
Yes another stranger Loobie theory but when tossing and turning on that pillow imagine a big box and all your troubled thoughts are being placed into it once all thoughts are safely in the box, slam the lid down and imagine that a timer will only open at the time you say
Now you are free of the "troubled" thoughts take your self down "happy memory lane" or to a safe place where you will not allow others to enter. Once you are in these thoughts your mind will relax and the "sleep train" will be along to pick you up

Only postive thoughts will close the anxious mind

I just want to sleep

I take SONODOR from any farmacia in Tenerife, they work very well.

Or if you are in the UK or know someone coming over, take ASDA's SLEEP AID, £1.38 for 20. Am taking them at the moment & they are working wonders.

Good luck

i know very well what your going through and thought i might help you by telling you my own way of dealing with it i had this problem every night for about 7 years but over the last 3 months i must say i had only one bad night.

my head was working overtime with loads of silly thoughts going around 10 to the dozen and it took hours with some nights not sleeping till 6 or 7 am then having to go to work be up at 8am then all day feeling like crap.

i have found what works for me is to make sure doors windows every thing is locked up then a cup of tea or something warm or even a glass of wine, watch somthing on tv but only somthing thats easy viewing like a comedy or something quit boring turn the sound down a bit to this makes me feel very relaxed and i tend to start to drop of after a while i then go right to bed and sleep all the way through.before i use to lock doors and windows last but i found this just woke me up.

i hope this works for you i can only tell you what i have been through but not sleeping is not good it led me to feeling very stressed out and very anxious, the thing i use to hate most of all was the thought of having to go to to bed this made me feel anxious knowing i would not fall asleep and my body would jump its was s..t but thankfully i now i feel a lot better.

lastly good luck.

Mmmmmmm!!!! OCD springs to mind "windows and everything locked"
Everybody has the "jerk" movement when they are just about to hit deep sleep. Some get woken by it as their minds are in over drive (stress, anxiety will make this jerk more sensitive and course you to wake from it) Some explain it as a falling motion.

Learn to relax your mind and look further into the door/window locking (i.e: what makes you think of doors/windows,lock??) What triggers our thought process and what promts our minds to think of our thoughts of doing things...

I haven't had a good nights sleep for ages.

I don't know whether anxiety/depression stops me sleeping - or the other way round

What I do know is that you keep going, no matter how you feel, because you have to.

I'm on holiday this week and had all sorts of things planned. There is no pressure to 'keep going' - I went to bed at 10.30 on Tuesday night and only woke up late this afternoon because a friend called round and literally dragged me out of bed

What have I missed out on in Forumland

Don't interrupt me when I'm ignoring you!

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

I like the 7 deadly sins - it's a good check list!

i only said that rather than later i make sure everything is closed and locked before i settle down to relax as it takes about 2 or 3 mins to do this job i do it before so it does not wake me up when its time to g o to bed.
