My sympathies Gracey, I know just what you mean.

I've been having rough nights now for over a year. Don't know what the answer is but my only consolation is I know there are millions like us.

Lavender is a wonderful natural sedative. You can try having a bath before bed with 5 drops in the water. Or, you could put a couple of drops on the pillow. You must get the balance right because too much will have the opposite effect.

It's useful to keep a notebook by the side of the bed and commit to paper what is rattling around in your head. The transfer gives you "permission" if you like, to go back to sleep because you have "dealt" with the issue "for now".

When I can't sleep I rock myself, hubby thinks i'm a bit mad but it works for me. My dad used to rock me in my crib as a baby all the time, he used to tie his leg to the crib at night time and rock it to and fro because I was such a wee whinger! Also I concentrate on my breathing and find that occupies my mind and I relax and then it's "hello snoozeville"!!!

I had a herbal remedy that worked cant remember the name though,but if i´m really desparate its half a dormidina that works,take it half an hour before bed.Good Luck.

My friend, who is just like me too, recommends Nytol. Of course, don't know if you would get it there in Tenerife. Let me know though if you like, and I could always bring some out to you next trip. I have to confess I haven't tried them but she does say they work.

I tried that Kalmsleep (?) stuff - can't say it helped me
