How do you go about watching Movies off your PC on your TV?
Hia
Can it be done, does it need to be a special type of telly?
We have strated watching films via the PC, but we have an old CRT monitor and want to know if the new plasma / lcd telly's will let you do this, rather than buyin a big lcd monitor.
We were then thinking of buying a plasma / lcs telly and have the two in one, but don't know if its possible?
Do you need any special equipment or do you just plug the lcs / plasma into the monitor socket on the back of the pc tower?
Cheers!

Your computer needs a VGA out, which most desktops will have. as this is where you plug your monitor into, if its a laptop, many have this but some dont, you also need a VGA in, on your telly, again many modern lcd or plasma have this, but not all, this connection does not carry sound, so you will also need an audio out on the comp, and an audio in on the telly. Most comp and telly's would have this.

I got a DVD recorder with a HDD and USB in. I use a 1gb USB stick and transfer any movies I want onto it, plug it into the DVD recorder and then watch the movies on the TV.
I would have got a VGA out, however I didn't fancy all the wires running through my living room, as the PC is quite a way from the TV

Though most movies were round about the 750mb mark and so would fit on a 1gb card??

Or burn about five movies (in .avi format) onto a data dvd disc and pop it in the disc tray. As long as your dvd player plays DivX format. Hiper Trebol 40€, gets you a Kimatsu, that will do that.
Avi format can be a bit funny at times though. Anything in slow motion goes a bit wierd, and lipsync sometimes, but if you pause then play, it sorts it.

You can also use an s-video cable if your laptop has a video out. You can buy them from any computer shop.
Thanks, what does one of these look like???
