Would you work with your partner?

Ok here is a question for you??

IF.... you had the chance to go into business with your partner, would you do it??

How would you feel working all day long with them and then being together in the evening too??

Would it put a strain on your marriage/relationship or would it bring you closer together??

Please let me know your thoughts

I work with my partner (Web Designer) and have done for the past 6 and a half years.
We started a repair and retail business, and worked together as it grew, then as the web design business grew we are still working together. We are together 24/7 and we do sometimes argue, it would be a lie to say we didnt, but it isnt often and soon sorted out.
We work in the same room, side by side, and cant imagine working differently. But we are lucky and not everyone is the same, and other people may not want to or cant work with their partner.

I have been working with my husband now for 9 years, for the last 2 though i have been working from home and i hate it!! I have made him build me an office at our buisness (had one but lost it due to expansion of sales office)

I find that we work very well together, but he sticks to what he does best which is the running of the buisness and mine is the paperwork/accounts and it works fine. If we step into each others parts thats when it doesn't work!! Learnt that within the first couple of weeks!

My husband and i have a very strong relationship and are not only hubby and wife but also best friends (i have my best girlie friends too) which i think is the key to the running of our buisness.

When we are at work it is work, but when we get home work is not mentioned and family life kicks in, this is why i think us working together runs smoothly.

Different factors have an impact in this situation. eg if you are both alike in taking control then it will be a disaster area, on the other hand could one of you take instructions from the other.

Whatever business it is someone has to take the lead, as in a marriage if you think about it one of you will generally have the final say on decisions whether the partner realises it or not.

Then again it could work out perfectly just depends on personalities, as in any job you will have colleagues who are great people but can be a total a**ehole during work. This is normally ok because you can go home and vent your frustration on the other half whilst keeping quiet at work, but obviously if working with the partner you don't have this option - you can't very well go home all upset saying you pra** you ruined my day.

Lets face it I defy any female to go home and forget a disagreement during the day we simply cannot do it.

Having worked together over 8 years must say at first it was a little hard at times, and we both had our own views on matters.but over all its been very good knowing that your both working towards the same things.

and one of the good things about working together when times are hard you seem to pick each other up.

so yes its good from our point of view.

I always said no way, never, but Christmas 2006 he came and worked for me for a few months, and it was actually fun playing boss when he had to do exactly what I told him to!!!

The only problem was with the other guys, I had to make sure I didn't give him the best jobs, etc... to do otherwise there would of been hell on!!!

Geoff & I have worked together for around 6 years.... of course we have our differences, and some spectacular rows, but we're still here!

It does get tough, and not something that would suit everybody, but don't know if I'd change it, overall it works quite well..
