Okay fair enough Chip. I suppose the only way to know is to go for yourself.
It is just that I have heard that Vegas is just like San Isidro but bigger and with brighter lights. The whole town is built around the main drag with only desert either side.
Maybe this view was wrong (by the way it was your mate Andy R.O. who said it to me)
That sound about right!!! I'll let you give him a kiss from me...tongues and everything.

Went there about 12 years ago, its definately a place you HAVE to go to at least once. Wouldnt particularly want to go again, but thats just me, its really not my kind of place - too phony, even by Tenerife standards
..stayed at Bally´s, visited Luxor and saw EFX with David Cassidy at MGM Grand. My Mum and Dad renewed their vows, a complete giggle. Almost came unstuck when we got stranded between the old part of the strip and the new bit. Theres a kind of no mans land inbetween, full of bail bonds places and pawn shops, scary. Went into a British pub (yes they are there too!!) and they called us a cab and told we were lucky to have not been robbed But overall, yes its great for a one off hol. Very cheap, bottled beers about a dollar each and cheap "buffets" in almost every hotel. Go for it.

Sounds wonderful, you have sold it to me anyway, even if its only in the hope that the pickpockets accidentaly lose their watch or something whilst they are in my pocket

We have been 3 times. great time the last visit was our daughters wedding in the Little White Chapel, we had a great time, we have stayed in the Luxor,Circus circus and the Excalibur. All our family have now been, our Grandson has just taken his girl friend for her 21st birthday, Annie
Oh yes, this is my dream holiday too. Are you flying back to the UK and doing a return flight from there? If not, where would you recommend flying to, to get a good connection and reasonable price. Any info on this will be very much appreciated.
Also, is there ever a bad time of year to go to Vegas? as in weather/ overcrowded/ or just dammed expensive? Thanks again.
Living in California for most of my life, and going to Vegas at least three times a year if not more, the best time to go is in the winter, the weather is cold but you are inside the casino's most of the time. In the summer the temp can get above 120f so it get's real hot to walk around in the day and see the sites. Old town Vegas is the best to us, great atmosphere, good tables, and cheap food.

The old and new bits of the strip have joined up now, a bit like Las Americas + Los Cristianos. (They used to be completely separate) I went 4 times in 3 years, and still found new things to see and do. Some members might remember a brilliant keyboard player called Rob Cooke, who got a bit fed up with the lack of live music in Tenerife a few years ago, and who now is doing very well for himself in Vegas. I always meet up with him there, he plays in the 'Soprano's' dinner show next to the Aladdin. Introduce yourself GBlade, cos he loves to catch up with Tenerife, and knows cool places to go that tourists don't! (Say Linda Day sent you, you'll probably get chucked out!) Wish I was going again, but I'm in Swansea at the moment, almost as good!

who are you flying with? We normally fly direct non stop with Virgin to Vegas and BA from here to gatwick.
Got some great flights...Tenerife to Gatwick 73 euros then fly direct to Vegas (BABY) with Virgin...my first time with Virgin...and staying on the strip in some timeshare apartments connected to the Flamingo...I am travelling with some friends of mine who are Vegas Virgins so it will be like seeing it all new again through their eyes....I LOVE the place and IF I ever get married (again) then this is where it will be...YES you will ALL be invited....
My fondest memory is sitting in the MGM Grand at 5 in the morning (couldn't sleep) playing poker ...on my right was a big fat guy formally dressed in a tux smoking a massive cigar..on my right was a guy dress as Elvis, next to him was a man in full cowboy gear who was sat next to probably the sexiest girl I have ever seen ( obviously a hooker). I am dressed in shorts, scruffy T-shirt and flip flops when I hear a big commotion behind me ...running through the casino was a girl in full bridal clothes followed by 6 bridesmaids...as I was shaking my head thinking how surreal it all was Elvis turned to me and said ****ing Vegas Baby !
