I understand what you are trying to say.. so please don't feel to view your opinions.. Oneill started the thread to get others opinions and all opinions will be respected, whether they are what he views as negative or positive
I understand about family units but due to my career ( Hate it now!!!) it has always been family unfriendly sooo the Oneill and I have always pasted on the doorstep (If you know what I mean?)
If they move out I can have my cake and eat it!!! They may see me more than living here and have sun, sea and a relaxed life
Your not a prat but you do have a valued opinion

I'm not trying to pour cold water on things but have you thought out what your sons future is going to be as at his age the chances are that he will end up with no qualifications

Sorry to be negative just realistic

He has already exceeded and holds more qualifications than my hubby and I have ever held at his age His dream is to sign up with the RAF and he currently has contact with them and they have informed him on the path he needs to follow should he move.
As a mother I need your opinions as like all you mothers out there I don't want to make the wrong move on my childs life

Trying to be diplomatic would living in Tenerife affect his career if you become non resident in the UK & resident in Tenerife would this make him liable for Spanish national service???

My son has a friend who is going into the 6th form at Wingate. He will be going into the RAF when he completes his studies. His family have been out here three years.

Will your son go to English or Spanish school loobie? If he goes to Wingate he will be in the same year as my son, I believe.

As he still comes under the UK resident ( confusing law and I can't explain it in a few sentences) he will be able to join the RAF.

Yes he will go to Wingate but after that he will have to return to the UK to apply for the RAF.. I'm only echoing what the RAF have stated
If he is in your son's class it would be great for them to meet??

Wingate school covers a British curriculum with standard UK qualifications. If your son is prepared to work hard to follow the course and pass his exams, he should gain the qualifications he needs. It makes sense to move before he starts the GCSE work if possible because different secondary schools cover different syllabuses. That is the same whether you move about within the UK or come to Tenerife. Presume if he is 14 he is due to start that in September.

Good Luck with whatever decision you make - I've just been looking at Facebook at some 200 of the kids I taught over 25 years (on the school site) and can remember agonising over some of their futures (along with their parents) at Primary school. They look pretty happy pics so we must have got some of it right!

Thank you for that... we know it is his most crucial year for him and to be honest if the Oneill gets cold feet and does not move out before the start of the term... then it's not going to happen because my sons education is worth more than mine or Oneills happiness

My son will be going into year 10 at Wingate. There are two classes per year so they may end up in the same class.

It would be fab for the boys to meet up and whatever we can do to help, please yell!
