Just to reiterate what Max said yesterday. There is no such thing as a cheap/discounted Apple product (current lines that is). At some point in the chain the product has to purchased from Apple. You cannot buy them from anyone else.

Apple have an incredibly tight price control policy which takes into account VAT/Sales tax rates and currency fluctuations. Dealers (official & unofficial) can slightly affect the retail price by reducing their margins or bundling higher margin products into the offer. That makes the price look good but in fact the "discount" is coming off the bundled product(s) not the Apple product.

To buy official Apple products at seriously low prices you have to get them from the USA. The official US$ price of all Apple kit is significantly cheaper than Europe. Many companies employ the same price control/differential - Adobe being another culprit. Brits and Europeans pay way more than their American counterparts.

If you find an Apple product significantly below the "real" price I would be very very wary. It is almost certain to be fake or stolen!!!!!

Hi Cots,

I am aware of Apple pricing - I was looking to buy an unlocked iPhone from Movistar (I hope I got the name correct..) which I understand sale them (As anyone can do in Italy)

Isn't that the case in Spain? If so - what will be the local Tenerife price for the phone and would they sell it to me?

Moshe

Do you have to be a Tenerife resident to have a contract?

Is there an iPhone with a Pre-paid sim?

Is that a joke or a serious question?

I am a bit confused (like KJ)

Where do you live and what exactly do you want and why? It's very difficult to help you as you are so vague. I think you can buy IPhones on the black market and use any carrier you like but you give no info as to why you want to do this.

Because I live here, want a mobile phone with an account and am reasonably legal my Movistar account and IPhone deal seemed reasonable. At the end of the day

a) I wanted a contract ( I already had a Vodafone account)
b) Given that, I would have costs whoever was my service provider
c) My IPhone cost €200 because of the above

I am probably being seriously naive here but what, and why, are you after?

Hi guys.. wait.. nothing to hide..

Hi guys,

I am going to Tenerife on a vacation. I live in Israel where they don't sell iPhone - not retail nor via contract (very odd..)

But there are 30,000+ iPhone in Israel (estimation of press) since most people simply buy them in the US, Italy, Belgium, etc.

Could there be an iPhone with Prepaid - why not? (although less likely) - but I had to ask, no?

Buying an iPhone with a legitamate 12/24mo contract is also an option if the monthly rate x number of month is no more expensive than buying one in the black market.

I am trying to exhaust all possible options using your local knowledge (sorry if its too much

Moshe

Here is an article about pre-paid iPhone..

It happens all over :-)

See you all on Friday

You can get a pre-paid sim and put it in an unlocked & jailbroken iPhone, but Apple are only selling iPhones at present with either AT&T is the US, O2 in the UK & Movistar here... all on contract, so no... you cannot buy a LEGAL pre-paid iPhone. Apple have agreements with one provider from each country they sell in - on contract.

Mine is unlocked & Jailbroken. I have a Vodafone sim in it.
