Maybe, and this is just maybe. A tribute band tries it's best to find artists who are similar in appearance to the original band, dress the part and try their best to recreate the vibe. Good examples are Rollin Stoned, T-Rextacy and Limehouse Lizzy.

Whereas a band that plays a tribute to a band just recreates the music in question and are well known for their own music too. The Hamsters spring to mind, as they play a set that includes their own material and also play tribute to Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top.

Interesting that when Marky Ramone was here in March it was billed as 'Tribute to the Ramones, featuring Marky Ramone'. And they just about got it right.

just what I was thinking a tribute band would have to dress the part the other would just sing their songs

...on the subject of tribute bands....can anyone recommend any good acts playing PLA/LA at the moment...or even any decent live bands????.....obviously subject to musical taste!!!!
