my oldest son lives with his girlfriend although they have a house together so they both commited to that and they do not intend to have any children (much as I want grandchildren) they are happy enough I do wish that they would marry but hey it,s their life ,,,,,,,in compleat contrast my youngest is getting married for the 2nd time and hers so who is the wisest as the 2nd pair are well out of money

OK - let the fallout begin

Take a look at the animal kingdom (of which we are a part)

The male of the species needs to fornicate and spread his seed.

Man is basically bone idle, so rather than go out looking for a mate every day, he keeps one in the cave.

Women need 'love' or commitment in order to have sex - it stems from times when the female of the species if pregnant of with young children was not in a position to go out and hunt for food. This is where men and women differ.

It is tradition that men and women marry - which is proof of the commitment. This idea was probably instigated by women

Given the choice, I believe that 'most' men would not marry if given the choice. They would simply keep a mate in the cave and change it when the fancy suited him.
