First week back to work after maternity leave!

I've just started back at work after my 16 weeks maternity leave. Yes 16 weeks is all we get out here! I've had to leave my little princes at home with her Nanan. I'm thinking about installing her in my filling cabinet for the ocasional cuddle.

I feel for you Sammie, I have a 7 and a half month old wee girl called Isla. Lucky for me I dont have to go back to work yet but am dreading it. My baby is such a happy wee girl and is my shadow at the moment, speeding around the house in her baby walker! Its a shame the maternity leave isn't longer for all mums!! You need to get a webcam set up so you can watch her from work!!

Totally agree Smurf would be awful having to leave them with people you/they don't even know!! I have also been lucky in that respect with most of my family here too!!

Philipa is only 4 months bless so I would not have considered nursery. Mum lives with us so she is in her usual suroundings.

Oh I can't wait till 5!

You're totally right it's not fair. Some women have the luxury to not have to go back to work while others have to!! When it comes to our babies all mums should be able to stay at home (if they want) regardless of their financial situation. I consider myself very lucky but really feel for those who aren't!!

We put our daughter into nursery when she was 16 month, not cos we had to we just wanted her playing and learning with other children. We took her out after 3 months as she was only there 6 weeks in all. Picking up to many virus's as they do, but also had to take her up to the hospital twice. We all have private medical and it still took over 2 hours the first time for her to be seen and the second time was slightly better but not much. It was more bother than what it was worth, all we wanted was for her to play and learn with the children but it wasn't fair on her as she couldn't tell us what was wrong with her. We are now waiting till she's abit older and put her into School.

I think my boys were about 2 when they went into nursery. As you said it's nice for them to interact with other kids.

I was a bit unsure weather I wanted to come back to work or not. I just don't think I'm much good at being a house wife. It was really worrying me that if I was out of the work circle for a while I'd have problems getting back in. There the mortgage too. Having said all that I wouldn't work if I didn't have my mum to rely on.

16 weeks is really a joke though. The goverment are on one hand encouraging people to have kids and then encouraging mums to get back to work with tax relife but not helping us to stay at home a bit longer and give them the start they deserve.

I'm going on now and look it nearly time to go home....
