Question Does anybody know about Travel Documents for the ferry?

I am going to Gran Canaria by ferry and have heard that you need travel documents from the Ayuntamiento before you travel. Has anybody heard of this and if so what is it I need to ask for?

To obtain the residents discount you need either a valid residencia or "certificado de empadronamiento para viajes" that your local council office can produce (for each person travelling who is a resident). In my experience it's dead easy. Just take photocopies along with originals to the ferry offices when you book as they need to attach copies to their paperwork that they use to get refunded by the government for the discount

Do you know if you need to have residencia to get the 'certificado de empadronamiento para viajes' or is an NIE and empadonamiento enough?

Thanks

I should have mentioned that you have to be registered on the empadronamiento (ie local electoral role) to get the cert. Have you done so ?
