Question Queen or not Queen? Did anyone see Al Murray's Happy Hour on TV last night?

Music was provided by Paul Rodgers, Brian May, Roger Taylor and some session musicians and billed as Paul Rodgers and Queen.

I really don't think they should perform under the name of Queen. The title Queen is synonymous with four certain people. 50% of those people plus a few others do not constitute the mighty "Queen"!

I dunno about this one... yes, Freddy WAS Queen, but so were the rest of the guys... INXS are still INXS with JD Fortune as the frontman... bands change frontmen without changing the name all the time and still go on performing. I know Freddy was a great man and performer, but the others are still Queen and to deny them the right to perform as such... hmmm. Dunno.

Iv'e seen the original Queen and they where fantastic, it's not the same without Freddie Murcury. Paul Rodgers does a great job and they are going to keep the name Queen because it's a money making machine.

Hmmm tough one for me too. I loved the "original" line-up and I'm kind of with Kirsty on this. I mean if we're going to be picky Brian May and Roger Taylor were two of the founder members of Smile, the band that would become Queen.

Queen then became Brian, Roger and Freddie. So, Queen as is today are actually 75% of the founder members. Is it fair to deny them the right to play under their original band name????

For the record though, I think the new single is really rather good. I think it was written by Roge, sounds like one of his anyways.

I saw them perform on Al Murray, and thought they were brilliant.
Of course its never gonna be the same as the original lineup, but its not as if the band split up through choice.

It was great to see the band enjoying themselves and being appreciated for the talented people that they are.

Freddie actually joined Brian and Roger in Smile, but they didn't make the big time under that name.

Queen then became Brian, Roger and Freddie. So, Queen as is today are actually 75% ??? of the founder members.

So what about John Deacon? Is he forgotten already?

For the record though, I think the new single is really rather good. I think it was written by Roge, sounds like one of his anyways.
I have to agree that the performance was good and Paul Rodgers was really good - but none of it is now Queen.

Totally agree and having seen both Free and Queen live, they are in my opinion totally different bands, it shouldn't be billed as Queen more Paul Rodgers and Queen, I would imagine Freddie would be really chuffed though to see the new frontman. Alright now was brilliant and full belt in our house, sorry neighbours, hell, no i'm not LOL

Queen

IT WAS NOT QUEEN. If Brian May was singing, then maybe.... but the music was nothing like Queen. I´m sorry for the rest of the band but Queen died the day Freddie died!

Could you say The Who are dead as a band now? I wouldn't like to call this one either as when I saw them in the 70s they were still intact with Moonie and John Entwhistle, but have not seen them in any other form.
