I've met a few girls this way now Betty. Its amazing how nice people can be on the net compared to in the flesh so you can't judge until you meet them. It doesn't matter how well you get on with somebody on msn, the minute you sit down with them in a pub you might hate them!
Just do it but remember one thing, your dating again. When you were 17 you didn't settle for the first one that came along so why should you now?

Generally its safe if you take normal precautions, try and get to know someone a little on the net before actually meeting, try and get some sort of feel for some one before you meet them. If you do go alone, be sure some one knows exactly where you are. I have met women in London and its not unusual a few minutes into a date that the girl would take a call from a friend to make sure she was ok. Dont do anything foolish and meet in a crowded place, and have your date timed and your trip home planned.
Its seems modern day dating whether done on the net, or meeting some one in a bar you have never met, not much difference really. Problem with the internet is you dont always meet who your expecting to meet. Theres lots of nutty women out there also, i have first hand experience, and would prefer to chat to some one on the net before deciding to meet some one. I havnt picked up a girl in a bar in years.

If a woman turned up to meet me & brought a friend however, I'd be licking my lips Seriously though, it doesn't matter where you meet someone whether it be in a bar or on the net, you don't trust them until you know them better.
I never do anything too heavy on a first date, no fancy restaurants etc cos then you're stuck with them for hours. Stick to a pub lunch, that way you're both on your way after an hour.
My daughter met a guy on the internet recently after her 17 year relationship ended. This guy seems really nice and he seems to be doing my daughter a whole lot of good. Maybe she was lucky, but really if you are going to meet somebody for the first time, it's recommended you choose a busy, popular place for the meeting!
