My router's wireless connection is not working. How do I put it back on?

It worked for 2 years and now I can't get it working. The light on the router ''wlan'' does not come on. I can get connected by putting a cable between the router and laptop but no wireless. Now, I have phoned telefonica but they are as much use as a pig in a mosque, just saying there is no problem and the problem must be with my line, which is ******* as I have only just had it replaced. They also said the computer may not be sending a signal to the router Can someone explain ? it's a zyxel router which I got when I signed up with telefonica.
TIA

plug the pc into the router with your network cable.

then goto the web browser for your router(normally it is this http//192.168.1.1).

it should then ask you for username and pass word(normally this is admin for both).

check to see if your wlan is enabled and on the right channel as your pc.

p.s. do not change anything just check

let me know how you get on.

thanks for the reply. Should of said, I'm not at home at the moment so I can't check. Will do later.
computers are not my strong point, so

''check to see if your wlan is enabled and on the right channel as your pc''

how do I do this ?

mostly it's just to make sure that the wlan is on don't worry too much about the channel as this very rarley changes.
