Have you ever had a car crash?

I just received a phone call to let me know that my little sister whom just passed her test on the 27th February has had a car accident.. Luckily she is ok and no other cars involved she apparently hit a ditch on a country lane and flipped the car up on its side. Have any Tenerife Forum members had any accidents or near misses soon after passing their tests?? x

Yes, I did almost the exact same thing shortly after getting my first car.

Fortunately only my pride was hurt and the car was a good as new after 10 days in a garage.

Determined not to do it again I went on a driving course that the Police were offering to the public at the time. That seems to have done the trick as the next 40 years have gone without anything other than an odd scrapes which have not been my fault (even though some years I was driving over 30000 miles).

All down to good luck though as there have been many near misses,.

Not long after I passed my test I was bringing my car home from the garage, my x boyfriend was in the car in front and my brake failed gong down a rather steep hill the only thing I could do is go into the back of him to slow myself down

Scared the life out of me

I am hoping that this accident knocks a little bit of sense into her, noticed that the minute she passed she was getting a bit cocky and last time I was in car with her had to tell her a few times to watch her speed.. Hope she is not to wary off getting back in car (once it gets out garage) x

Never made me slow down I love going fast that is probably why I have 9 points on my licence for speeding

No,touch wood, after 48 years driving legally. My son did and I never want to see that again. There was oil on the road after a spillage and no one came to clear it up.He skidded into the back of a skip wagon and the fire brigade had to cut him out.He was a mess, all he cared about was they had to cut his best jeans off!!!!

Just spoken to her and although still bit shaken is only suffering from a bad headache!! luckily a wooden post that she hit brought the car to a stop just inches away from going down a steep drop into the woodland area.
