What are Tenerife forum members opinions on a DNA database?

what do people feel about a national database for DNA.I think only people with something to hide have a problem with it.crime would fall if people new they would be identified and caught..how do others feel about this..

I am unimpressed when some object that this is against human rights. True, it is, but in my view if such a database could help to catch those who abduct children and violate a child's human rights, on balance it has to be a benefit.

It will work if everyone is on it except me.
Just come & have a word with me if no-one matches to a particular crime.
Which obviously they will because everyones on it. (except me)

My Mood:
what you are saying is right, if everyone is on the database apart from you and a search is put through the database and no matches are found then the dna must belong to the only person who's not on it, but I don't think that this is discussing the thread topic.

I think the idea of dna database is a good idea as it would make it easier to track and locate criminals etc, but I think what scares normal people about it is the big brother factor. It's easy enough to say if you've got nothing to hide then it shouldn't bother you, but things like this go against some peoples beliefs

yes you are right, this is the problem.Oh and it would be just like the government to realise some odd professor has got it all wrong and a couple of thousand people have spent time behind bars for nothing

When you look at how Official Bodies handle existing data bases losing them leaving in the back of cars etc it scares me

An example I was recently at the doctors for an examination, after weighing me the doctor glanced at his monitor saying you were x kilos lighter 10 years ago I must have been a stick insect then !!!!!

Someone must have entered the wrong data How often does this
happen ???????????

Just another case of RIRO
