I can't believe that it has taken 17 deaths for police chiefs to finally admit that young people in the town of Bridgend saw killing themselves as a way of dealing with their problems.

Tragically it seems that the media frenzy that has erupted is part of the problem and may indeed encourage more young people to follow suit. God help them and their families.

Sadly all the suicides are in the area where I live in Bridgend, there seems to be no links between the deaths, two last week were cousins and live 15 doors away from each other Sky news is now blaming the media, sad times for all the familys involved and a same time for Bridgend

I find it very hard to think it is all a coincidence, I think a link between most if not all will turn up sometime.

sorry to here about the suicide in wales it seem to be a problem in the uk, i beleive it stemms from low feeelings, i had a brother who tried to comit suicide on various occasions he had a mental illness and i still love him to bits, it has always interested me why people do commit this act i have heard of people with no problems at all rich lovely wife and family to comit suicide, the south wales thing puzzles me, and even the pathetic pressure brough on children to do well at school, life is to e enjoyed not endured but life has it low spots and i have had my fair share of them me just grateful i have never contemplated suicide and i hope they find the root cause of this before more lives are needlessly lost

This is very sad to see these reports of young people, who in theory have everything to live for & their whole lives ahead of them in a beautiful place like Bridgend, I have nothing but happy memories of living there & the warmth of the people knew no bounds, A grand place with sad times just now.

very sad .my best friends daughter jade killed her self 4th october 2005 .she and her mum had a row she stormed off .and when she had put the belts round her neck and tree she managed to call her mum who heard a fall ..it wa accidental death .I do know drink was invloved and im sure she was not in sound mind at the tiime .jade was on the verge of making her break as a model .
It must be such a worrying time for all parents in that part of wales.and i hope not to hear of any more deaths .

I also think that these deaths could be a tragic by product of society's obsession with celebrity.

Even the police now think that the prestige of having a memorial website, where friends come to mourn and pay tribute online, may have been a contributing factor.

It is so tragic that children, and the majority are cannot find a solution to their problems. From my own experience with my grandaughter they feel embarrassed at showing their feelings or talking about them so they log on the internet and what then?I cannot begin to imagine what their parents are going through it makes you feel you want to hold these poor children in your arms and make the bad feelings go away.
