The Taxi driver if he know's the geography of the area, and has passed that particular test which is a requirement for obtaining a Taxi Driver's license, then surely he/she only needs to understand the Destination the passenger want's to go to,ie,"Downing St" some British born Taxi Driver's in the UK might as well not speak English, for on many occassions after giving them the destination I wanted to go to, they just dont even reply, also not a thank you for the tip..(if I did not tip them..maybe they would utter a comment then)When in other non English speaking Countries..I do not find a problem with their Taxi Driver's,they understand the Destination you give them and off you go,if you are looking for conversation..that is another matter, what about the conversational aspect concerning Taxi Driver's in Tenerife,a lot of them do not speak
English...yes they are Canarian and it is their land, the point I am trying to make is that English people do not on balance seem to have a problem dealing with a non English speaking Taxi Driver's while they are here,or anywhere else in the World..(I did say on balance)
