Just read that in the UK, they are contemplating making smokers pay £10 and get a doctors certificate saying that smoking will not cause them 'significant harm' to be able to purchase, and smoke, tobacco products. You can't make it up.

can't say what I would really like to as not over 18's section Its madness and would doctors REALLY want to be signing a certificate stating that when they all know the facts, would be going against all that they know!! Crazy!!! between that & the smoking ban is it any wonder I spend most weekends in front of the pc where I can drink and smoke as much as I feel like
You can bet though if this is brought into force us Scots will be the first to get it

From the article I read this morning the permit would cost £10 per year. For this you would also get a nice little ID card with a photo which you would have to produce each time you went to the shop to buy your ciggies.
