Holiday Insurance

Good Morning.
There is an article in the Daily Mail this morning on page 46 which may be of interest to forum members travelling from the UK.I am useless at cutting and pasting so perhaps someone out there will be so kind as to do it for me.

Too late! My 'Sun' is already torn into small squares and hanging on a piece of string in the loo.

Have you double checked to make sure they class the Canaries as Europe as some Insurance companies don't

I found a major problem before with many travel insurance policies - If you were living in Ireland, say and booked a flight from London to the US, and flew from Dublin to London to catch that flight, then the flight from London to the US was not covered as you were deemed not to have commenced the trip in Ireland. Equally such policies would not cover flights taken in the country you flew to. So a flight from Tenerife to Gran Canaria or Madrid would not be covered if you resided in Ireland or the UK.

Any time taking out insurance, you really do need to read the small print and phone if you are not sure. Even using a credit card that said it gave me full travel insurance for flights paid for using the card, did not cover me in the above scenario of a flight on from London or internal flights in Spain.

In short someone bought travel insurance via First Choice, their father had a stroke and they had to cancel holiday.Insurance would not pay out because the father had been taking blood pressure tablets for 40 years and this was an existing medical condition.Thats the gist of it.It may be a little obscure as to whether the father was travelling with them, but I would imagine they were not.
