Does anyone know if supermarkets in UK accept coupons even if you dont purchase that item?

If the coupons are for money off a particular item, I don't think they'd allow a discount on something else.

When I left the UK at the end of August, Tesco were accepting coupons for items they sold but you hadn't purchased. It is different though for the coupons they send you with your Clubcard. You must buy the item in that instance.

Well i was working in Asda last xmas and you could take any coupons as long as it wasnt more than 20% of what you bought and even that wasnt set in stone , i always hand my coupons in even if i havn't bought the item and not been refused yet.

Seems to me that Asda is screwing their suppliers. Their suppliers issue the coupons to increase their sales in order to make a profit. A profit that no doubt keeps their employees in work. Honouring the coupons without a sale is Asda stealing from their suppliers. Thus putting workers at risk. Hardly admirable IMHO.

UK supermarkets used to deduct them from your bill as long as they stocked the item, you did not have ot buy it. Not sure if it still applies though.
