I have never seen so many Disabled people in one spot - NOT!

I have just come back from the local ASDA, it was heaving. As per usual (at Christmas) you could not get a parking space in the over 500 spaces they have available.

The Disabled Parking spaces were completely full and mainly occupied by young 20-30 year olds who it would seem were fully able bodied.

You would have thought that the season of goodwill would extend to all, particularly the disabled and that people would respect their spaces BUT not in Huddersfield.

It seems that the all encompassing need to get the 3 stone of sprouts or the 5 loaves of bread (even though the shops are closed for all of 1 day) means that basic levels of courtesy go out of the window and the survival of the fittest metality sets in.

Is it the same in your town?

It used to be like that where I lived in the UK. Not so bad here, but still gets really busy!

Wasnt it the Huddersfield ASDA that fined a heavily pregnant woman for using a disbaled parking space that was in the news recently?
Either way there should have been someone to oust them out !

I used to get annoyed when people parked in the spaces for parents and babies, without a care in the world. Do they not care nor understand how hard a shopping trip can be with a young one??? Oh that used to get me so angry

They would have been the first to moan and complain though if they had been towed away or clamped. That would have been funny!

Thumbs up

I did my shopping last night in the Hermusa supermarket in Costa del Silencio. I got there about 7.45pm and they close at 8.30. I had no trouble parking, the supermarket virtually all to myself, they had everything I wanted (which Tesco can't manage any time of year, let alone Christmas). I had a nice leisurely shop then went straight to the checkout with no other customers else in sight! Nice one Hermusa!

What they all forget is that the blue badge is issued to the user not the vehicle so blue badge or not, if it's not theirs, they can be fined.

I know I am risking a lot of flak here, but pregnancy is not a disability although I think they could have stretched the point.

But who does the fining? Surely a retailer doesn't have the legal power to fine anybody?

If it is private car park the police will not do anything about parking (or the wardens.
I always park a long way from the shop. Youget places much easier less likly to get your car scraped and the excercise is good for you
