Do any other Tenerife Forum members suffer from sciatica?

i had a fall about 5 months ago & landed full force on my right hip. about two months ago i started to get a pain in my hip and this past week have been in absolute agony. friends are telling me it could be sciatia. it's got to the stage now were i'm having trouble sleeping with the burning pain and i'm getting pins and needles in my arms, having dizzy spells and my legs are 'twitching' for no reason. i can't get an appointment with my gp for 3 weeks!! should i go to a chiropractor or the xray department? do any forums members suffer from this? are my friends right? could it be sciatia?

thanks in advance

I think in your position I would go to your local A&E tomorrow just to be on the safe side. The dizzy spells would worry me.

Hope i'm not worrying you too much.

I can understand you're being a 'woose' and being reluctant about seeking medical help Jackie but you owe it to yourself to do so.

6 weeks ago I woke up at 2 am with pains in my chest which I put down to indigestion and an uncomfortable left arm which I put down to awkward positioning during sleep. When the pain eased I managed to get back to sleep. The same happened again at 6.30 with the pain easing again so I struggled into work. By 9.00am I was still not feeling great so I called my local surgery. When I described my symptoms, the doctor basically said, 'get round here now'

Too cut a long story short, i'd had a heart attack and had delayed seeking help for 7 hours.

The moral of the story is, 'don't take chances with your health'.

Go for a blood test. Arthritis can be brought on by a fall. That's how my gran got it.

I have suffered with this once or twice while over here and I was recommended to use Fastum Gel which you can buy from any chemist. It is an Ibroprofen based gel and it really helped me. Stephen has also suffered with back problems and has used this and it helped him also. It is no more than around 4 euros in any chemist over here.

helped a bit. the trouble is when i'm walking; moving around the
house; office; going down stairs, i get the this feeling in my hip area it's hard to explain - like biting on a tooth when you have an absess!!! i feel
like my legs are going from under me then the pins & needles in my arms and uncontrolable 'twitching legs' i also have the (excuse me for being rude)
buring 'butt pain' it's all annoying me.

The Fastum Gel is very good stuff, even if to give you a few hours relief. You only need a tiny bit about the size of toothpaste you would put on your toothbrush. There is nothing worse than a pain like that, I have been up all night at one time with mine, hope it gets better for you soon. The heat out here in Tenerife should help you hopefully
