Don't the Tories ever learn? Jonathan Aitken is back!
For heaven's sake. Don't the Tories ever learn?
Jonathan Aitken is now apparently being "rehabilitated" back into frontline Conservative politics by heading a policy task force for the Centre for Social Justice think tank, which advises David Cameron on social issues.

Well... if that's what they choose to do, let's hope it keeps them out of power

Sorry got to disagree with you.All parties are crap at the moment, there is good and bad in all three, perhaps it would be better if we took the best of each and formed a new party. Now there's a thread, which forum memebers for each job.Can we try that one please?

I thought he had been brought in to help formulate the parties policy on Prison Reform. Something that (like him or loathe him) he has had first hand experience of.

But it was Maggie who promoted him in the first place. That was before he lied in Parliament, lied to the Press, lied in Court, and went to jail, of course.

All politicians lie, its their job to lie, its what they do best, having read Aitkins book, which I enjoyed,he probably is the best person for the job. There is such a thing as rehabilitation.
Yes, it's their job to lie, but he did more than that. He resigned his Cabinet position, as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, to take the Guardian to court for libel, wielding what he called the sword of truth ... all the while knowing that he was lying through his teeth, and that while he had been Secretary of State for Defence, he had taken payment from an Arab businessman interested in arms deals.
He was lying even as he said that his court case represented his "fight against falsehood and those who peddle it".
