Both my daughter and my son's girlfriend have been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. When the two of them initially went to their doctors and described their symptoms the response was the same. 'Oh you've got IBS. There's some tablets. You'll have to learn to live with it.' What are other forum member's experiences with IBS? I can't help feeling that it is a cop-out for doctors when they have no idea what's wrong. __________________ Michael (I am not now nor have I ever been a Sun reader!) There seems to be a very distinct group of symptoms for it, so I would have thought a doctor would have identified more than just one or two before coming to a diagnosis, which would hopefully greatly limit any chance of a misdiagnosis. Having said that, I would have hoped that a doctor would at least test for possible alternatives, like Celiac Disease, Crohns, or Diverticulitis. | | | 11th November 2007, 02:15 | #3 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Jul 2006 Gender: Posts: 2,964 | Quote: Originally Posted by Janet Having said that, I would have hoped that a doctor would at least test for possible alternatives, like Celiac Disease, Crohns, or Diverticulitis. | I assume so in my daughter's case. The doctor did request samples and tests were done. Diagnosis IBS. __________________ Michael (I am not now nor have I ever been a Sun reader!) Personally, I believe that the condition is now referred to as IBS. IMO it is, in the main, a psychologically induced disease, that can be successfully addressed and relieved in most, but not all cases. __________________ ©Cazten | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Cazten For This Useful Post: | | 11th November 2007, 02:33 | #6 (permalink) | | Super Tenerifian Join Date: Jul 2006 Gender: Posts: 2,964 | Quote: Originally Posted by Janet Have a look HERE too, Michael. | Thanks Janet. It did seem to ease the symptoms but being a bit of a cynic I can't help wondering if that was psychological. __________________ Michael (I am not now nor have I ever been a Sun reader!) We should all remember that! __________________ ©Cazten | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Cazten For This Useful Post: | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | | |
