Have they stopped observing the Two Minute Silence on Remembrance Day?
Does anyone else remember the two minute silence. When I was at school at 11minutes past 11am on the 11th of 11 (Nov). EVERYTHING stopped for two minutes silence. Schools, factories, tv, radio everything. I cannot remember when this stopped.

I can remember once i stopped on the hard shoulder and got out of the truck for the 2 minute silence and nearly got arrested for being abusive towards 2 ignorant police officers. Why dont people understand just how lucky we are and what all the fallen men and women have sacrificed so much for.
Lets all show some respect tommorrow and all stay silent for the 2 minutes.Cant the mods shut the forum down for the silence?

According to the BBC, a two minute silence is still observed at war memorials, cenotaphs, religious services and shopping centres throughout the UK. Article HERE.
The usual 2 minutes silence will be held at Westhaven Bay at 11:00 as it always has been (well at least since I've been here, and that's over 10 years)
I will be there, will you?
There is a full Remembrance day service held, it starts at 10:15 (mas o menos)

My employer is Homebase and they observe it. Mind you, we always get the odd ignoramus that insists on being served regardless.

A few years ago I was exercising in the David Lloyd center in Leeds on Remembrance Sunday. OK, to be honest I was confused and had thought it was Saturday, and had got the date wrong. The whole place was full of mostly young people on exercise machines, and the Remembrance Day ceremony was shown on several of the TV screens. I stopped exercising, but I was the only one that did. I was so angry that I wrote to the boss to complain about the lack of respect - either they show that channel and react to it, or at least switch it off. I got a very apologetic letter from the manager, who was an ex-Falklands serviceman, who gave me to understand that the deputy manager in charge on that day was going to be very unhappy man. The insensitivity of the clients on that day made me very sad.
Just a quick reminder its almost 11 am on the 11th month ......
