Remembrance Sunday 11.11.07: May god bless them all.
Just thought as I wouldn't be able to post over the weekend. I would like to post a wee dedication to all our troups, past present and future. For whom without a great deal of us would not be here all over the world. May god bless them all.

Any uk resident with a WAP enabled mobile phone can now donate via text message.
If you text the word POPPY to 85552 you will receive a text message in return. Follow the instructions and you will end up with an image of a poppy. I set mine as my wallpaper.
It costs £1.50 and it is legitimate. Check this if you have any doubts.
I'm with you batty em. I hope no-one minds me re-posting the above.

I hope it also reminds us how brutal and pointless war is in the long run.
The people that died during wars at least deserve that much respect. They were brave and selfless and I hope they died for a good reason (see above)

The Scottish Poppy Appeal is the main fundraiser for Poppyscotland (The Earl Haig Fund Scotland)
Last year over £1.5 million was raised through the Scottish Poppy Appeal
Last year we spent over £2.4 million on helping veterans and their dependants in Scotland
Many other activities and events take place throughout the year to raise funds
In 2006 we introduced a new identity – Poppyscotland, to help better identify our year-round fundraising activities and support to veterans
We recently introduced an acronym – BASE – to help define our charitable activities – Benevolence, Advice, Support (to organisations) and (supported) Employment
Poppyscotland is the only charity officially recognised by the Scottish Parliament and every year are invited to launch the Appeal at Holyrood
Poppyscotland was founded in 1921 by Field Marshal Earl Haig, Commander-in-Chief of the British Army in France, 1915-1919
We are often asked why there is no leaf on the Scottish Poppy. Apart from being botanically incorrect it would cost £15,000 to make leaves for all poppies - money we feel is better spent on veterans
Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory produces over four million poppies each year. There are plastic-stemmed and stick-on varieties to choose from
The Factory supports employment for veterans with disabilities. There are currently 29 veterans employed, aged between 30 and 72. Between them they have seen active service in every campaign from Korea to the first Gulf War
This is only the Scottish arm... Good Luck to them all ... Least we Forget...

In one of our local cemetaries there is a headstone for 3 brothers. All killed at the Somme. When I look at it I cannot help but think of their mother.
And maybe i'm over sensitive but every time I hear the following, I get a lump in my throat.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them".
