Tenerife Forum members, is chivalry a thing of the past?

Is chivalry a thing of the past?
As a hopeless romantic I love the idea of men being a true gent (ie) walking on the outside of you when walking down the road?
Opening the door for a lady etc.....

What is the most chivalrus thing you have ever done?

Chivalry is definately a thing of the past out here when you are trying to board a bus. I have had more mens elbows in my ribs than I care to mention

I've posted this before somewhere but I held open the door of a shop for a woman following me in. I was rewarded with being called a sexist pig. I replied that I hoped in future people would let in bang in her face.

I do think it's a dying art, but luckily for me I'm married to an extremely chivalrous man....

A teacher once told me that my son, aged 12, opened the classroom door for a girl who was hampered by stuff like schoolbag and cookery equipment, upon which he was laughed at loudly by every other pupil in the class. Being civilised amongst such mass ignorance is not easy
