Quatar airlines, have you flown with them?

Has anyone ever flown with Quatar airlines??

I'm flying to Bangkok with them in Febuary, and a friend of mine said they are really awful to fly with, is this true?

Thanks Mande

Never flown with them, BG, but I've always heard very good things about them. The only complaints have been about the airports and particularly flight delays, which aren't really down to the airline itself.

We flew to Bangkok with them 3 years ago.

What can I say, its a strange experience to say the least.

The seats and the plane was great.

Because Quatar is one of the many hub airports for the rest of Asia (including Pakistan and India) the flight from Manchester to Quatar was very interesting to say the least.

There were people getting onto he plane with boxes tied up with string, carrier bags for luggage etc. Many had brought heir own curries and food.

In flight, you know the screen where you see how far to your destination? Well with Quatar Airlines the screen always showed the direction to Mecca and the distance. Throughout the flight, people would get up and go into first class (no one was flying first class on the flight) and put the prayer mats down and pray.

Beyond Quatar, the flight was normal. It was just the leg from Manchester to Quatar BUT the price was good.

The next time we booked to go to Thailand (although we never got there we had to cancell due to the death of my Mother-in-Law) we booked Emirates, the extra £100 or so was in our opinion worth it.

That's no to say Quatar was bad just that we would prefer to fly Emirates and spend a little bit more. However if the difference in the flight had been over £200 we wouldhave gone with Quatar Airlines without a doubt.

Hope this helps.

Qatar Airlines have a pretty good reputation in the region, and since they went through a big expansion a couple of years ago almost all of their fleet are virtually brand new. Haven't flown them myself, but I wouldn't have a problem doing so.

In the past 12 months I have flown Emirates, China Airlines, Eva Air, Air Asia, Oasis Hong Kong, PMT Air(Don't ask!), 1-2-Go, Thai Air, Nok Air.

Emirates, forget it, in my opinion they were the worst of the lot,....never again! We were treated as infidels...which we obviously are in the eyes of Emirates.

China Air and Eva Air on a par with each other for the best all round airline. Oasis Hong Kong...best value for money, leg room but naff food!

The rest are normal, no frills.

Qater, I have heard, are a 'dry' airline ....no alcohol.
