A bath to relax you and a shower to waken you up. Why?
I had one of my "Insomnia attacks" last night. Basically I ended up getting to sleep at 4.30 and up for work at 7. We worked a non stop 9 hour day today. I've just had a shower and I'm raring to go now.
Why is it a shower livens you up and a bath makes you relax?
Have you also noticed that if you are physically tired a shower will perk you up? If you are mentally tired nothing works but sleep.
Im probably in the minority here but I find a shower more hard work than a bath......you have to stand up in the shower

Yer well we all no you are a little strange!!!
I love a deep hot bath filled with hundreds of bubbles and scented candles around the outside, some nice chill out music on and then get all cosy in my nice big bed, even better when sharing with someone special, then drift off into a deep sleep, oh tired now, think i may go and have a bath hehe!!!!

Perhaps it depends on whom you are with at the time!

Hmmm, a good arguement I think it's because when your in the shower, yes, one you have to stand up, but the water is hitting your skin which most likely stimulates blood circulation to liven you up, whereas a bath opens your pores and relaxes you while the stillness of the warm water will get rid of the lactic acid in your muscles, helping you to relax.
...I guess.

When I (rarely) have a bath I have bubbles, candles and a glass (or bottle) - but I always have a shower afterwards to clean myself from the bath
this is what i usually do as well...not on tenerife though cos we only have a wee 50l water heater, which is not really so exciting considering the fact that you only end up moisturizing half of your bum and feet cos the water runs cold.... but yeah, when i am in prague, definitely a lovely hot bath without bubbles but with bath salt or those little scented balls, a good glass of wine and a good book to go along with...
