Where does the money for charity go?

Have just had a few executives of a childrens charity staying in the hotel for a couple of days while they attend a seminar here in the Blackforest. They flew in from all over Europe and attended in the offices here that are manned by full time staff. Eaves dropping while serving breakfast (its what waiters do) I heard that some of them had been in Rome for a conferencr last week and some of them were heading to Cambodia on a fact finding mission in the near future.
i am not suggesting that they are misuesing funds or not working very hard to bring relief to children in need but all of this administration must be costly and it makes you wonder how much money that you give to a cause actually gets to the intended people

Well in the UK, I know that the manager of an Oxfam shop about 5 years ago was earning 24k p.a. Now how many shoddy worn, sweaty t-shirts and chipped novelty mugs do they sell just to pay for the manager!!!! No wonder the rest of the staff have to be volunteers. I wonder how many pennies actually make it to the third world......

I understand that you have to pay money if you want the right calibre of personnel but personally I couldn't work for a charity and take a salary.

Could you tell us the name of the charity? Even give us a hint if you don't want to name them?

don,t quote me, but have heard and read that up to 83 pence in the pound goes to management of some charity funds you have to start thinking when somebody is getting 24k who is getting the benefit ?for me it,s certainly not the target headline.

I worked for a well know charity in the UK many years ago, and was paid a substantial salary, for a valid management job, it just didn't seem right, so I left after 6 months.

Some charities only get 10 pence in the pound from donations or less. Imperial Cancer used to be one of the only charities to my knowledge that did this in reverse and actually gave 90% of donations to the cause and 10% to management, but sadly they merged with another Cancer Charity and became Cancer Research UK and things changed. My dad used to donate
on a regular basis to Imperial Cancer until they merged and a lady came to see him in a very nice brand new flash car, my dad being my dad commented on this and the lady told him that it was a company car. When my dad questioned the need for such a flash company car he was told that they felt the image of the charity was important. Sorry but like my dad I would rather donate to a Charity where their execs. are driving round in old bangers. I also used to work for RNIB some years ago and was shocked to see the money wasted on Taxis, Business Lunches, Awards ceremonies for the worker who had received the most donations in a certain period etc. Like Caz and her charity work I left after a few months and told them exactly the reason why.

Same here in belgium , most of the money goes in to the pockets of .....manegement .
Althouw some organisations are good and get the money to the needy most are not to be trusted with youre charity .

So watch out before you donate .

On my last trip to India i gave money directly to a dokter there who was helping the poor in the street .
To my point the best charity i ever did , direcly where it was needed.

charity for me is giving to those who need it most, why then do the people who work in such establishments .... take? thought they were giving their time to help those who needed, freely.I stopped and questioned this and re-thought my actions?am i giving to those who do the charity work or is what i donate going to those who need? you answer that! very thought provoking
