I don't think that you can just get one. Your VAT registration number will, I think, be the same as your NIE ... but I don't believe you can just "register" here for VAT like you can in the UK. I know there is a threshold over which you must register ... what I don't know is whether you are able to register before you've reached that point. Someone else on here will know, I'm sure.

Have a look HERE too.

Question Can any forum members help me with importing goods to Tenerife?

Hello Peeps,

I am on my way out to the island next week and I am setting up a special effects postcard business,My supplier tried to send me my stock yesterday but TNT said that they can not deliver my goods unless I have a VAT number so I have got to get one of those when I get to Tenerife,And it will take a few weeks probably,TNT said that I could use someone elses number in the mean time if I could find someone willing to do this for me,it is all legal and above board.all it would mean is that My stock would be delivered to someone elses business ie bar ect and I would have to go to the depo to collect my goods with the person involved and pay 17% tax to get my stock. It would only be the once because I will be getting my number asap.I would appriciate the help if anyone can help me and I will give you a few quid.plus If anyone can give me any infomation about getting my own VAT number I would be very grateful.

Thanks alot

Craig

My Mood:
I own a few company's who are VAT registered and its not to be played with Vat is linked to Tax hence the new Government department now called HM revenue and customs for someone to lend you their VAT number your purchase will be logged against their number which may lead to them being liable for any tax due on the profit of said Items, therefore no one in their right mind would lend a stranger a VAT number..... Would you ?.....

sir o.g. is correct there the vat registerīd person would be liable for sales tax.

it isnīt hard to get a vat number just time consuming.

you do not need to wait untill you reach the threshold you can get a vat number any time it just means you pay vat straight of the bat in stead of when you reach the threshold.

check out the inland revinue and customs web site it has loads of info.
