Does anyone know how to get blue biro off my leather settee?

I must have been sitting on my pen while I was studying, now i've got a two inch mark of blue biro on my cream leather settee. Does anyone know what will lift it without damaging the leather? Milk comes to mind - not sure where I got that from, somewhere in the deepest recesses probably. Any tips would be appreciated.

Try some cold salted water ... my mother used to swear by it, and it works on many things. The main thing is that it can't harm or mark your sofa. Let us know if it works!

I havn´t tried it personally, but methylated spirits is supposed to dissolve & remove biro ink.

Thanks to Janet and Torrenter

Cheers guys, Janet I tried your suggestion, I also poured salt on it and rubbed with a damp cloth, to no avail. No meths in the house, but thanks anyway Torrenter. I used Cif and a lot of the colour came out, I then used a leather shoe cleaner - didn't move the mark, but the settee now smells lovely! Still a mark there, so any advice would be welcome.

I would have thought that the medicinal 96% achohol (in the little bottles) might work if you don´t have meths. Worth a try?

This is going to sound strange but try Aftershave or Perfume, failing that Witch hazel or hairspray. Just use any of these on the end of a cotton bud. They shouldn't remove any colour but to be on the safeside try it somewhere inconspicuous first. You night need to work at it a bit but the ink should eventually come out using one of the above.

Good Luck

Yes, I've heard about perfume too ... maybe it's the alcohol that Torrenter was suggesting that's in the perfume. Also heard about hairspray ... don't know why that should work.

I think hairspray has alcohol in as well, in reality you would think it would set the stain.

Dont tell Realsabrinova but if my husband wasn't at home to get rid of spiders when I found them indoors I used to spray them with hairspray and that is where they stayed until he came home
