Advice on hair for us ladies!!!

I have lived here a year now and my hair has deteriorated since being here.

I do the usual, colouring and using straightners but they are killing my hair.

I have tried to go back to my darker natural hair colour so that I no longer have to colour it, but as I have been colouring my hair for so many years it just fades back to blonde!

I have had it cut a lot shorter to get rid of dead ends, but it is still really brittle and dry.

So please ladies, I cannot be the only one with this problem!!

Any tips??

Yes, I am naturally blonde, but the sun bleached it even lighter. I thought it looked a bit 'brassy' so darkened it - big mistake!! Now I can keep it my natural colour for a week before it goes even whiter than the shade I was trying to darken.

Don't use straighteners and only use my hairdryer if I'm going out, or doing a shoot, and once a month put an intense conditioner on and leave it in overnight. It is one of the few downsides to living here

I'm off to see Kajo very soon to get his take on things - he seems pretty highly regarded from what I've read, so fingers crossed!

I think it may be the water quality, the sun, plus what we do to our hair daily being laydeees
I buy serum, which controls my very curly hair when I force it straight, nature always wins when it gets damp tho !!

Hot olive oil treatment, wash your hair, put the olive oil on then wrap your hair in cling film then a towel ( the heat from your head opens your hair cuticles & absorbes the yummy oil), wonder round all evening like Carman Mirander, then wash out & condition, you won't be able to do a thing with it, so soft

what i actually do is i whisk two yolks and add the olive oil bit by bit (cold though) and put this "mayo" in my hair, leaving it in for a couple of hours.

I am also having same trouble with hair lightening, I only had it darkened a couple of weeks ago and again I am going blonde!!! I do not go in the sea or pool. The weird thing is before i lived here yet still visited for 3 or 4 weeks at a time I used to have hair coloured before I left UK and although it lightened slightly it was nothing like this, so tomorrow I have a hairdresser friend coming out to Tenerife and she is bringing me the same colours/make they used in UK so will give that a try.
As far as conditioner, Jerry hall (Mick Jaggers ex) was once on TV talking about why her hair was always in good condition considering she has it dried and straightened most days for modelling work and she said, once a week she combs olive oil through dry hair before going to bed, wraps towel round it and then in the morning when she wakes washes hair, but she warned never put water straight on or you will be there forever, first put lots of shampoo on and rub well in all over to neutralise the oil, and only then add water and wash as normal. I have done this and it really works to bring back to life even the dryest looking hair.

Everytime I get out of the shower... whether I've washed my hair or not, I put normal conditioner on it and leave it in. It keeps my hair soft, protects it and acts like a 'frizz ease' product too.

My hairdresser cousin told me about it years ago when I first moved abroad and it's always done the trick for me.

Hairdresser advised my wife to use a leave in conditioner which she now swears by. It is Mercaddonna own brand and is a spray you shake and put on wet hair. Is called Acondicionador Instantaneo. Costs- not sure but about 3euros for big bottle. Because shes worth it.
