Is Trojan horse a dangerous virus

I turned my home computer on last night and my anti virus said it had deleted a virus called trojan horse. Is this a dangerous virus. I blame hubby, I've been on the internet for years at work and never had a virus on the computer, he's been on mine for a month and all of a sudden I've got a virus.

It can be but if your AV has deleted it then you should have no worries.

Its possible this may happen again. The reason being that certain types of viruses, trojans etc can hide in your system restore files where anti-virus programs can´t get to them.
There is a way around this but don´t worry about it unless it comes back within a few days or so. I think it happens when you re-boot most of the time.
Next time you turn your pc on, run a full system virus scan. If nothing shows up its most likely gone.

I would also do the following

Go to start, hit run
type in msconfig and hit enter

when the box pops up, hit the STARTUP thab on the right, click disable all, appy, ok then restart you PC.

This disbale many thing sfrom starting up when your computer comes on.

I would NOT do this as you may well disable your antivirus plus many other essential programs, such as video drivers.

A Trojan 'virus' is named after the trojan horse of mythology, they are virii that contain a payload, this is usually something that is sent via email to other Internet users.

What CIM has said is spot on.

Which Antivirus are you using?
Can you set it to run a scan during the boot up process?
If so, I would strongly recommend you do so.

I'm not sure what anti virus I am using I will check when I get home - I know the guy who I got the computer off put one on for me, plus it has Telefonicas anti virus too. I ran a full system check as CIM advised (took 35 minutes) and it said there was no virus found. Is it possible that the virus has come from work has I have sent emails to work from my computer (but two weeks ago). Also sent emails to my computer from work (but this was about a month ago).

Hi you can also try running a full system scan in safe mode, to do this restart your computer whilst it is booting up press F8, you will then get a blank screen for a couple of seconds, then it says start computer in safe mode click y to start in safe mode
the reason for this it only loads esential start program and not all the desk top programs so if there is a virus hiding in a start up program it will find it and remove it

hope this helps

Help run32.dll in the virus vault status changed

I have really got a clue what I am talking about here. On Weds my antivirus AVG detected a trojan and deleted it. Yesterday four trojan's were sent to the virus vault as suspect or infected, I deleted them - may have done the wrong thing here. Well I have noticed that it says that run32.dll status changed. Now I can't launch internet explorer it just says no connection. What do I do about run32.dll status changed. Plus when I boot up the computer a message appears Application failed to initiate 0x800106ba reset computer or start the help and support service. The help and support service doesn't work. So how do I reset the computer? Help I am hopelessly lost.
