Bins, micro chips and how stupid can politicians get?

I received a publication today from my local council which informed me that the re-cycling bins that we've been using for months have micro chips in them!

They claim that they are to enable the council to monitor how frequently bins are emptied and even to enable them to return 'mislaid' bins to their owners. Now as they are the ones who send out the bin lorries, one would think that they could have managed the former without the help of a microchip.

So logically, there must be another reason. Would they perhaps be planning to charge by weight as publicised recently in the media? Surely not And if they are, has it not occured to them that they will be lifting lots of mainly empty bins and finding a massive increase in fly tipping? So just how stupid is it possible for politicians to get?

And how can I screw up a microchip without damaging my wheelie bin?

Anybody else have any thoughts on this further expansion of the Big Brother state?

You will comply! you will comply!

They could tell you off if you put too many beer cans in a week for drinking too much etc?

Right before they put the number plate recognition cameras at your local refuse collection depot so that they can charge you if you go there too often.

Strange this... I heard a report on the radio yesterday regarding microchips on wheelie bins and it was to do with recycling.. apparently they are looking at forcing people to recycle and these chips will detect the contents of the bin and you will get fined if you are found to be putting the wrong items in the wrong bins!!!

My first reaction was .. what's the date... its not April first??

As for making microchips inactive static electricity usually does the job, when you can feel a small tingle in your fingers that is usually around 6,000 volts but it only takes 250 volts to fry a computer chip.

I heard about these fines too ... wasn't there someone who was fined for making a mistake and putting some things in the wrong boxes? How stupid can they be ... the obvious answer to avoid a fine in future will be that he recycles nothing!

There are quite a few loony tales going around ( many are true too )

One on the telly recently was about one authority who will allow you to wrap up potato peeling in newspaper and put it in the designated compost bin - but if you put the newspaper in on its own .... you will be fined!

Politicians hate and try to ignore or ban one thing more than any thing else - common sense.

#1; Pull out the microchip, and give it 30 seconds in the microwave

#2 Use cash, not cards
