the spanish police are asking residents and holiday makers alike not to pick up mobile phones which may be left in public areas(beaches,park benches ect) as the phones maybe booby trapped with a detonator that could blow your hand off

if you do find a mobile phone with no owner attached please find an officer to deal with it.
the police have found instances of such devices in mainland spain and have traced the detonators to a consignment stolen by ETA at the beginning of the year.
