I am seriously worried about what the world is coming to...

Is it just me, or is it getting more violent? Or did this sort of stuff always happen, but we just didn't hear about it...?

I think it's a combination of both Kirsty. More of it happening but because of improved communication quicker and more reporting of it.

How very odd.....Rather worrying I would say....even more so for me....My sister and her family are actually moving to Australia, Perth to be exact on 29th july......very nice

I agree absolutey sickening, but I have read stories and have seen tv programmes like this before and the victims could have been anyone, wrong place at the wrong time. No regrets or remorse either.

That is some sick stuff right there.. well last year was the emo year maybe they wanted to be popular with the "so called trend" and just went too far..
Who could kill someone who could kill thier friend!!

It gets worse... There's been a similar and recent incident involving two drunk teenager girls bashing a taxi driver... although not quite as horrific:


Not mentioned in these articles: I recall on the TV news that those two girls had somewhere like 24 to 32 standard drinks in their system at the time of the crime! OK, don't quote me, but they were totally off their face... anyway... it was an inordinate amount of alcohol.

The sad part is that "life imprisonment" here doesn't really mean a life sentance at all. It usually means 3-5 years prison!!! What a totally pathetic justice system here in OZ.

I'll be glad on returning to Tenerife I think... OZ is getting more like the USA every day. Really, really really sad to see us following Americas lead...

I for one can't wait for the change of government after the next election... Mr Rudd is going to walk into parliment.
