Liga Adelante - Week 1 round-up for CD Tenerife

Not the start we would have hoped for against Girona, but Cartagena & Barcelona B could have not asked for much more with away wins. Cartagena gave Xerez an absolute 4-1 thumping in their own backyard & Barce B beating Celta by the odd goal in three.

Other new arrivals to Liga Adelante Ponferradina & Alcorcon posted a respectable draw each, whereas Granada suffered a 4-1 away defeat at the hands of Betis.

Valladolid were the only relegated team to post a victory with a 3-0 win against Villareal B.

Rayo, Elche were the other winners of the week, well apart from some team who play in yellow that somehow overcame a deficit to win 3-2 last gasp.

Topping the table this week (with an effing long way to go) are Cartagena. Tenerife find themselves in 18th position with the home game against Salamanca on Sunday, hoping to tighten up the defence and maybe get a better scoring ratio than 2 out of 24 attempts, and maybe not rely on deflections too.

I'm still confident of a top six finish.

Weekend of 12th September
RAYO vs TENERIFE

One of the easier trips of the season to Madrid. The problem as ever is when is the game going to be played?
Could be Friday night, Saturday or Sunday and we will not find out until about 9 days before. :duh:

There are a few Armada Sur already booked on for the trip and this was going to be one of the big trips by The Frente but unluckily this weekend coincides with a big concert organised by the Frente.

I am going to wait until confirmation of the match day and time and then look for flights. With a bit of luck I will be able to go to the concert on the Sat. night and then fly early Sunday to Madrid for the match. That would be utopia (oh yeah, and to win)

News on this thread as I get it.

After all the false starts the game has been confirmed and it is quite a test against La Liga outfit Mallorca who finished 5th last season. They are now managed by Micheal Ladrup.

Tenerife Fans "local" taking shape

The Frente Blanquiazul "Fan local" in Santa Cruz has really taken shape recently after a summer of hard work.
The local of two floors is used for making the tifos, banners but generally it is just a place for fans to meet up. The odd concert has also taken place there. Well done to the Frente as the place is totally funded by themselves. :c2:

I am just wondering how many home games will be on the Saturday. I'm particularly worried about our first game on 4th September as it would be really difficult for me.

A few photos from tonights impressive victory over Real Zaragoza in La Orotava. Tenerife had chances to make it more of a comprehensive win but NINO�s first half goal was enough for the blanquiazules. Zaragoza hardly had a sniff on goal.
Ex-Liverpool player Jermainne Pennant played the 2nd half for the visitors.

Nino signs new three year deal!

:c1::c1::c1:Great news after a summer of will he /won�t he, goal scoring legend Nino has signed a new three year contract and stays at CD Tenerife for the remainder of his career. Nino has banged 42 for the blanquiazules in the last two seasons but he is more than just a player he is a reference for the new look CDT.
He stated at a news conference yesterday that the reson that he decided to stay (despite succulent offers from Primera clubs) is that the fans still make the hairs on his neck stand up (his words not mine) and also that his family are very happy here.

Who can forget that goal he scored against Xerez. Who can forget THAT commentary?:D
