Not been to PDLA for a few years, and by the sounds of it things are changing very quickly, with bars closing etc.
We fly out on the 26th October, just me and the missus, so looking for some good bars with entertainment, we're easy going so don't mind seeing a singer/band or comedian etc.

Four times in the last two weeks, we have eaten in Rumours Los Cristianos. The food is fresh, handmade and tasty. But above all, the cook knows what's in it!

Fair play to Julie in there, my wife actually enjoys eating there as she has no worries about taking a nasty reaction.

We asked in the pool bar at paloma beach
Was the chilli con Carne safe and we told yes, it's made in house. Well, judging by the cramps, pain and loose tummy, it certainly isn't.

Compare this to the restaurant opposite the aquapark - Hemmingways, they didn't even know what gluten free was and announced everything contained it. This was at breakfast ! There is no flour in bacon and eggs !

Unless they were thinking about cross contamination, but judging by their reaction, they hadn't a clue.

I have spent over four hundred euro in rumours in two weeks. We even threw a birthday party with surprise guests staying out in a bahia principe hotel.

Ojangles was excellent also. Visiting Los Cris for 10 days from 26/08/10. Self catering. 1 adult and 3 kids 16, 14, 10.
Any excursions will be paid separately. Plan to eat out for brekkie and main meal each day but nothing fancy, just bar food & modest restaurants (fish chips, basket meals and the odd steak or chinese buffet).
Will drink most nites but only 3/4 pints and pop 4 the kids.
Maybe walk into PDLA 3 of the days but stroll back. No car hire.
£1000 (1200e) enough?
What's the average cost for a bar/modest restaurant meal for 4?
Will have CC anyway but just wanted idea of costs.

Star of Bengal - Los Cristianos opposite Starstruck
Some of the best Indian food i have ever had - excellent service as well. Highly recommended.
Starstruck bar
Excellent cheap food - lovely mixed grill for under 10 euros
The Salad Man - ok not the restaurant name (cant remember it but next to Arbor on promendade overlooking LC harbour)
The best place we went to - such friendly people, superb food, service, the salads are just amazing. Run by a spanish man with a balding head - made us feel very welcome every time we went and always said 'ola' if we walked past in the evening.
La Coronita - Vista Sur
Simply awful - never met such arrogant waiters - wifes salmon was full of bones and my 'fillet' steak was not a fillet.
Avoid avoid avoid !!!
Rosies Canteena - Royal Palm
Biggest let down of our holiday - i have had many meals here in the past but it seems to have gone really down hill since our last visit 3 years ago. Only 3 waiters working - had to wait 20 mins for our drinks to arrive, i then asked for some sauce with my fajitas which took 10 mins to come by which time everything was cold. I asked for it to be re-heated but waiter either ignored or forgot about my request - it just got left in front of me so i refused to pay for it at the end of the meal. my son had to wait 10 mins for his milkshake. Could not believe it when one of the waiters knocked off at 10pm (four hours after it opened), leaving just 2 to cover the whole place. When i went to pay the bill i told the waiter that the service was simply awful and he simply shrugged his shoulders as he had heard it all before. We got the impression that the waiters couldn't give a stuff because they were under paid and over worked. Will never go back !!
