I have just received an email inviting me to a new Theatre event from Ian Sharrock (ex- K9 Animal Refuge, and also used to be one of the Merricks off Emmerdale) who is trying to set it up and make a regular thing.

Basically, it'd be nice to have a bit of Theatre to go to in English too, so if anyone's in or around Silencio on Sunday, why not support this new venture?

Location: Los Cristianos harbour
Description: Come and enjoy live music under the sun, moon and stars at these FREE musical treats and discover the diverse range of music that is popular in Tenerife. There will be seating for 3,000 people (on a first come basis) at the old wharf at Los Cristianos harbour.
From 9pm a host of top international artists like Fabiola Socas, famous local folk group Mestisay and Nauzet will seduce you with music and dance under the musical direction of Francisco Delgado Garcia. Bolero is a much loved favourite in the Canary Islands due to the influence of Latin American and Cuban music.
Organised by the Cabildo’s South Delegation it will pay tribute to well known local figures from the music scene. Everyone is welcome, visitors and residents and it’s a treat for all ages.

Loro Parque Campaign Seeks Two Young Directors

Loro Parque and Loro Parque Fundaciόn have launched a pioneering environmental awareness campaign for children. The campaign is looking to find two young directors to form part of the direction team and the environmental department.

The two children, who must be aged between eight and twelve years old, will be involved in decision making and communicating their opinions regarding Loro Parque's conservation and environmental protection awareness campaign.

Loro Parque Fundaciόn hopes to encourage Canarian children to commit to the protection of future generations of animals and botany by capturing their attention at an early age.

Children who wish to take part in the campaign have until the 30th of September to get involved. Those who are within the specified age range must write a letter by email discussing their interests and their concerns about the environment, how they feel the media contributes to environmental awareness and finally, why they feel they should be chosen.

The entries will be narrowed down to ten children whose letters will then be judged by a panel compromising of biologists, vets and educators. From the finalists, two children will be chosen who will then be able to visit Loro Parque with their families every month for a year. The winners will take part in activities throughout the different areas within the park, such as the aviary, mammal enclosures and the aquarium, as well as taking part in supervised tasks which will include the inspection, care and feeding of the animals.

Entries can be sent to sebuscadirector@loroparque.com or deposited at the offices of Diario de Avisos newspaper or Radio Club, which are both joining in with the initiative. Playa de Las Américas is gearing up for tomorrow night's World Dance Music 2010 event, organised by Arona Council, which kicks off at 8pm and runs until 2am.

The event is expected to draw around 5000 young people to the beach next to the Conquistador Hotel, where a very noisy and colourful night is in store, given that the organisers have laid on a spectacular sound and light show to accompany the bands and DJs who will perform at the free concert.
