Las Palmas v CD Tenerife : Away Derby! - November 22nd 2008

Well, the big Las Palmas v Tenerife derby match is just around the corner. There are several options for travel.

The main problem is that we will not know which day the game is being played until 10 days before or so. This is due to the tv coverage. It is normally covered by TV Canaria so it will be switched to the Sat. 22nd Nov. at 5.30pm
Canal + have first choice over any match so if they pick the Canarian derby it will be played Sunday morning at 11am.We will have to wait and see but the Saturday game day is defenitely the favourite.

No details have been released yet but this will basically be the options.

1) 9.30am Fred Olsen Ferry Santa Cruz to Agaete. Fans are taken by the police to a small costal town to spend the hours before kick off.

2) 1pm Fred Olsen Ferry Santa Cruz to Agaete. The bulk of fans on this one, maybe 900, are taken straight to Stadium in Las Palmas.

3) Go the day before on the slow ferry (2 and a half hours) direct Santa Cruz to Las Palmas. Stay the night.

4) Fly to Gran Canaria / Binter. Taxi to stadium.

Prices
The official trip package with Armada Sur > 95 Euro
This includes - Coach Las Americas to Santa Cruz
Ferry to Agaete - Coach transfer to Stadium - Match ticket -Return travel to Tenerife - Coach Santa Cruz to Las Americas.

Armada Sur will soon decide wheather we are travelling on the earlier ferry or with the bulk of fans at 1pm (1pm most probable)

I will only book for Armada Sur members but if anyone else is interested in going I can point them in the right direction.

The ferry journey is great fun The whole hour journey is a party.

Last time there were 950 fans on one ferry plus 2 German Hippys that were Island hopping. had to feel sorry for them but they were ushered through to the VIP lounge!!

All bound for Pio land

I'm all for the main 1pm ferry, safety in numbers, good fun on the ferry, and as short a time as possible in Pio land.

The Sunday November 23 is the departure date for the ARC 2008 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers from Las Palmas to St Lucia, 225 yachts and catamarans and the worlds media. There are 2 weeks of celebrations, parties, boating meetings etc in Las Palmas, sponsored by the tourist board - the police wont be happy to have the football to deal with and will probably want us in and out on Saturday. Cheers Lemming

The trip usually sells out a week or so before the game. So, Nov 14th/15th.
I will need everyones Money/photocopy of residencia by early Nov.

BTW Non-residents have to pay extra. Normally about 30€ more. You can use another persons residencia as they do not check tickets, but that would be on your responsibilty not mine.

As usual we will not know the day of the game until roughly two weeks/10 days beforehand. And it will not suprise me if the on going football tv disputes will mean that we will not know until even sooner before the derby game.

BUT WE GO WHATEVER RIGHT? HA HA OFCOURSE.

If they play the game on the Thursday at 3am in Las Palmas we will be there.

So people going will need to book the weekend off.

We have decided that Armada Sur will be going on the 1pm ferry. Meeting at The Royal oak to catch the coach to Santa Cruz around 10am.

If canal+ decide to televise the match (they have first choice) it will be played at 11am on the Sunday morning. In this case we will leave at an unearthly time of about 6am or go the day before and stay in Las Palmas the night.
