Stress


The rules for stress in Spanish are:


If a word ends in a vowel or in ‘n’ or ‘s’, the next to the last syllable is stressed.

If a word ends in a consonant other than ‘n’ or ‘s’, the stress falls on the last syllable.

parEd hablAr


If the above rules do not apply, an acute accent appears over the stressed vowel
